New Bloggers on the Block!!

May 20th, 2009 by aimeem

Hi,

This is our first Blog and we wanted to have a way to keep people up to date with how our little princess is coming along. She turned one on  Monday and had a wonderful party where she loved being the centre of attention! It has been quite an emotional week as we have of course been playing out the events of ‘this time last year’ in our heads. Having looked at photos this week of her when she was so unwell it’s just so hard to comprehend that that critically unwell baby is actually Sydney-Mae! She is such a happy and bubbly little girl- amused by the slightest thing whether it be watching us drink to watching Mummy tie her hair back.

It has been especially hard her turning one when she still is not able to sit unaided. She is so almost there but can’t quite seem to master the balance.  We do The ScotsonTechnique daily at home which we believe has made a real difference to her. This week we have now employed a Private Physiotherapist (courtesy of The Sydney-Mae Fund!) to come into our home for two hours a week so she can also work with Sydney-Mae in helping her finally sit unaided. It is our mission now- we will get her sitting up! We are off on holiday in July and it would make the world of difference for us to be able to sit on the beach with her sat up in her pretty little sun hat playing with her big brother in the sand!

We had an assessment with the Health Visitor today which was encouraging as she said that in Speech and Social Interaction Sydney-Mae was scoring as a twelve month old. On her Motor Skills she was scoring as a six month old- we were overjoyed by that to know she is half way towards where she should be!!

Sydney-Mae has such a  fighting spirit and we have no doubt she will show them professionals exactly what she is capable of- we just have to keep doing all we can to help her along her way. sl271813-large.jpg

Cheers,

Ross and Aimee x
